Her Stepbrothers Are Angels Read online

  “Yes, but wait in the car,” Dixie said, feeling a presence nearby. With her senses on high alert, Dixie opened her door slowly, scanning the parking lot.

  ’Two men leaned against the wall of the club, staring right at her. She thought the heat was bad the first time it came on, but now that she’d received her gift, it was nothing compared to what Dixie was feeling now.

  “What? Dixie, you are freaking me out here,” Lilly said, drawing Dixie out of her trance while they moved towards the club as the club door opened and Trey stepped out.

  He turned to stare at the two men. “And you two are?” Trey asked, looking like he was already getting ready to beat some ass. The demon part of Dixie didn’t like that at all.

  “Trey, don’t,” Dixie said and pushed Lilly into him. “Lilly, meet Trey. Trey, meet my best friend and almost-sister, and yes, she knows everything.” She took a deep breath and turned to the two men.

  “You were waiting for me. Why?” she asked, feeling Trey’s heat behind her. He placed his hands on her shoulders, and she glared up at him.

  He just smiled at her and winked. “I want you to take Lilly inside and let me handle this.”

  Yes, I know these two are yours, he said inside her head, but I will find out why and who they are before I allow them near you. I have to protect the subs of my own club. Oh, and no one touches your friend but me.” Trey pushed Dixie toward the door, swatting her ass. “Go. We’ll be inside in a bit, and remember no one touches you two.”

  She glared up at Trey, who gave her that look that said, “Do as I say” and she sighed. “You’re lucky I like you,” she mumbled before taking Lilly’s hand and moving through the door of the club.

  They both stood in the entrance and stared. “Okay, I’ve gone to some fantasy land or something. What the hell?” Lilly mumbled, looking around her.

  “You aren’t the only one. Wow, a private pool. I’ve never seen a club that had one of those. We’re going to have so much fun.” Dixie looked to the left where a bouncer was waiting, ’who was part wolf.

  “Fuck, I’m in trouble here, Lilly.” Dixie squirmed as the heat in her started to rise.

  “You aren’t the only one, damn just the way he’s staring at us. I’m already feeling needy. Do you think it’s the guy?” she asked as the door behind them opened and Trey came in with the two men Dixie had seen leaning against the wall outside.

  “Yes, and, Rocky, knock it off. These two don’t need any extra help in that department. Go to the bathroom and put your things in a locker, you two,” Trey ordered. “We’ll meet you by the bar.”

  Dixie’s eyes moved to the taller man behind him. He had dark blond hair, green eyes, and from what Dixie could tell, a body that would—”

  Lilly pulled her toward the bathroom laughing, interrupting Dixie’s thoughts.

  “Girl, you need to slow down. You were going to climb him right there in the doorway,” Lilly said as they entered the bathroom. She grabbed a bottle of water from the rack by the door and thrust it at Dixie. “Drink, and settle down. We need to think here. Something isn’t right with those two. They were waiting for you, and even though I didn’t’ sense they were going to harm you, they sure wanted you.” Lilly opened a locker and glared at her. “And what were you doing shoving me into Trey? I mean, he is gorgeous and all, but don’t you think I should be picking who I want to be with?”

  Dixie sat down on a bench and took her shoes off before throwing them into an empty locker. “What, you don’t like Trey? I think the two of you would be great together. Plus, I trusted him to make sure you’d be okay if something did happens to me.” Dixie looked up at Lilly. “I won’t have you hurt, Lilly. You know me, and you’re the only one I can talk to. I’d give my life to keep you safe.”

  Lilly stripped off her dress and shoes before sitting down next to her. “Same here, girlfriend, but talk to me. I can help.” She held up her five-inch-heeled shoe. “I can poke anyone’s eye out if I need to.”

  “We better get out there. Trey isn’t a patient person.” Dixie lifted the dress up over her head, exposing her teddy. “But know I love you, lady.” She winked and moved to the door, taking a deep breath. “We ready?”

  “As ready as I will be. At least they have our medical papers so we don’t need to worry about that.” Lilly said as they stepped out of the locker room, carrying their water bottles. They took in the scene around them.

  Dixie knew eyes were on them, but she kept her head down and moved into the main room. The pool, which was the size of a football stadium, was to their right, and beyond it towards the back of the club, she could make out a dance floor, stages were on the left and off to the side between the pool and the dance floor was the bar, where the men from outside waited.

  “Fuck,” she whispered. With their jackets off and no shirts on, it was all Dixie could do not stare. “You’re going to have to help me here, because I have a feeling I’m going to make a total ass out of myself,” she mumbled to Lilly.

  “You’re not the only one. Look at Trey. My God, you never told me about the piercing. Is he, well, you know, pierced below?” she asked, and Dixie laughed and was about to tell her when Trey came around the bar and put a finger against her lips.

  “That you will have to wait to see later, but first we have introductions to make.” Trey took her hand. “Dixie, this is Eae and Leo Ziska, your stepbrothers.”

  “What?” Dixie tried to yank her hand out of Trey’s, but he held on while wrapping his other hand around her. “Have I ever hurt you?” he whispered in her ear, holding her tight.

  “Let her go,” Lilly yelled and was moving to punch him when the wolf man grabbed her and held her back.

  “You know what they are, right?” She glared at the men in front of her. “This isn’t good, Trey, please. I’ll just leave. You won’t have to worry about me again,” Dixie pleaded, but he shook his head.

  “You worry too much. Plus, deep down you know what they are to you. Do you honestly believe they would kill their one and only mate?”

  Lilly stopped moving, and her gaze flew to Dixie. “Really?” she asked. “How can she be sure? No one has told her anything about her demon side. You’re the only one to help her so far. Her stupid—”

  “Lilly,” Dixie shouted, knowing her friend was going to start ’in on a rant about Dixie’s mother. “You can let me go. I won’t run,” she said and glanced at the two hottest men she’d ever seen in her life. “You’ve hunted my kind before, and you know some of you will still kill my kind despite the treaty.” She shook her head. “This is a disaster waiting to happen, not to mention that you’re family now.”

  Eae stepped forward and held out his hand. “Shouldn’t we speak of these things alone?” He nodded behind her, and Dixie turned to see all eyes on them.

  “Fine.” She placed her hand into his and glanced at Lilly. “We’ll check in in two hours.”

  She nodded and glared at Eae’ and his brother. “If you hurt my friend, I’ll hunt you down and pluck every fucking feather from your damn gorgeous body, before I—”

  Trey covered her mouth laughing. “We get the drift, little spitfire. We will meet back here in two hours so these two can make sure Dixie is safe, ” Trey said and Leo nodded, moving to her side.

  “We will be here.” He leaned in close to Dixie, taking a deep breath.

  “Come.” Eae led her past the dance floor to a hallway with several rooms, in which different scenes going on. “Your friend has given us a private area to talk in, but not to worry, he has someone watching us. You are safe.” He stopped and opened a door. “Go sit on the cushions.”

  Dixie nodded and moved into one of her favorite rooms—the Egyptian room. Its rich colors gave it a warm feel, and the king-size bed had her favorite canopy over the bed. Yep, Trey was still looking out for her.

  Dixie sat down on a pillow with her hands resting on her knees and bowed her head. Eae and Leo moved two folding chairs in front of her and sat.

��Look at me, Dixie,” Eae said.

  She looked up into his green eyes. “I know you need to feed, but we wouldn’t feel right if we didn’t talk first. Are you okay with this?”

  “If you mean can I handle talking, then yes. It’s early, and the heat doesn’t usually hit me till later in the evening, but with you being so close, it’s hard to hold back. There’s a bigger pull this time, but I can handle it.”

  “If you have any trouble, you tell us. Now tell me why you left. Did you really believe your father would put you at risk?”

  She glanced down at her hands. “No, but could I risk it? I mean, I was happy he found someone and I knew he was serious about her, but when I found out, I was scared. It’s always been just the two, well, three of us. Then I heard all the stories.”

  “You don’t like your gift, do you?” Leo asked, and she shook her head.

  “No, I feel like a damn slut. It doesn’t matter if I don’t want sex, I still have to find someone.” She glanced over to the door, but Eae placed his finger on her chin and brought her gaze back to him.

  “So much pain in those pretty eyes. I’m sorry we didn’t find you sooner. We could have solved this problem, but that was then. We’re here now for you. Both of us know there will be problems with other hunters, but we’ll deal with when it comes. But know this, Dixie, we will protect you with our lives. No one is going to take our mate away from us when we just found her.”

  “But it would be easier if this wasn’t happening. All my life I’ve been different. The only one who’s stayed beside me has been Lilly. I’ve tried to hide most of it from my father. This ‘gift’’ is something I didn’t want him to know about. Do you know how hard it was to tell him what my gift was?” She rubbed her palms on her legs. “How can I go back there and see the disappointment in his eyes?”

  Eae placed his hands on her cheeks and bent down until he was nose to nose with her. “I don’t even want that running through your head. You had to do what you had to do. There is nothing wrong with that.” He placed a kiss on the top of her head. “Now, tell us your limits?” he said, sitting back.

  Chapter Three

  Eae held back a smile as their woman squirmed in front of them. The red teddy was stunning on her, but he and his brother were already being pushed to their limits not being able to claim her and having others touch and look at her.

  “No blood sports.” She shivered. “Or breathe play.”

  “What about knife play?” Leo asked. “I wouldn’t cut you, but I’d love to see my marks on you.”

  Yes, his brother was famous for knives, but it wasn’t because he used them for play.

  Dixie squirmed, and Eae slapped the outside of her thigh. “Hold still. Now answer my brother.”

  “It excites me, yes,” Dixie said, staring up at him.

  “It’s been a while since we’ve been with anyone. We’ve had no girlfriends or ‘fuck buddies,’ as the humans say. I take you aren’t seeing anyone, either?” he asked.

  “No, I’m afraid human men wouldn’t be able to handle what I need to feed, plus I’ve never had any true feelings for anyone.” Dixie tilted her head, glancing at him, then at his brother. “At one time, I thought Trey might have been my mate, but I was wrong. He was my mentor and friend, and I could call on him when things got bad.”

  “Did they get worse?” Leo asked.

  “Yes. The first year was the worst. I left the city. I couldn’t even stand being around my father that year.” She looked down, but not before Eae saw the tears in her eyes.

  But that lasted only a few seconds before her head snapped back up. “I even left Lilly at that time. I went to Vegas and took any man that could handle me. Yeah, they paid me. I was one of the high-class ladies in a brothel there.” She smiled. “I was lucky. The madam also happened to be a shifter, and she took me under her wing. She introduced me to the clubs. Going to them was safer for me, and each major city usually had one that wasn’t for humans. As for how far I am into the scene, I don’t really know. I never allowed anyone I was with to push me that far. I know I’m a submissive and need a strong hand, but as far as a Master/slave relationship and a twenty-four-hour lifestyle thing? I don’t know.” She cocked her head to the side. “I do like to take off at the last minute and go on trips,” she teased.

  “There will be none of that, unless we are right beside you,” Eae insisted. “We like to travel also. Tell me, have you left the planet? Travelled to the other worlds out there?”

  “”She shook her “head. “That’s possible? How many places are there out there to visit?” She frowned. “But we couldn’t take Lilly, could we?”

  “You two really do everything together, don’t you?” Leo leaned over and pulled one of the ties on her teddy.

  “Yes…well not… you know. That would be too yuck. She’s like a sister to me,” Dixie said.

  “Stand up, Eae. It’s’ time to see what is ours. You are ours, are you not? Do you admit we are your mates?” Leo said as Eae stood, and Leo placed the folding chairs back against the wall.

  “Yes, sir,” she said.

  “No, I don’t like it. That sounds impersonal. Master Eae or Master Leo will do nicely.” Eae walked around to her side and pulled on the other string, allowing the top of her teddy to slide onto the mattress. “Beautiful. Your skin is so soft.” Eae ran his fingers down her shoulder.

  “Her breasts are full. Perfect for us to play with. Look at how big her nipples are. We’ll need to make sure to decorate these often. Maybe have them pierced, like her ears,” Leo said before sucking one of Dixie’s nipples into his mouth.

  Her hands came up, but Dixie stopped and put them back at her sides. “Give me one of your hands,” Eae said, holding out one of his hands, while grabbing the cuff hanging from a chain above them. “It was time to get to know every inch of her, and Eae wouldn’t have her moving or touching them right now. He was too close to going over the edge.

  Dixie looked at the chains hanging from the bedframe above them. Her eyes met his, afraid, but Eae could also see the need in them. “Will you trust us, our little beautiful demon?” he asked.

  She tensed. Something in her eyes changed, and she snarled, pushing Leo away from her “You brought someone else here? I thought it was just us,” she whispered, and Eae heard the hurt in her voice as Dixie trained her ‘gaze on the door, which was not cracked open.

  Dixie couldn’t have dreamed these two men up. They were everything she wanted, needed. She wanted so bad to give everything to them, including her heart and soul. She had even brought up the Master-slave relationship because, deep down, Dixie wanted to be in one.

  The thought of them collaring her had made something quiver in her belly. Every time she’d seen someone wearing a collar, it was all Dixie could do was to keep a smile off her face, let along the longing out of her gaze.

  But she couldn’t think about that right now. Right now, there was a threat in the room, and it was another angel. The feelings of hate and distrust coming from this intruder were so strong, Dixie almost gagged on them.

  Ignoring the brothers, she moved away from them, not caring she was almost naked. This person would not get the better of her. But she wasn’t’ expecting Lilly to bust through the door with her shoe in hand.

  “You’re not going to hurt my sister, you fucking asshole,” she snarled as she swung her shoe into the air where Dixie sensed the threat. Dixie would have laughed her ass off if she wasn’t worried her friend would get hurt.

  “Lilly, stand down,” she yelled as the intruder growled and became visible.

  “Father?” Eae said next to her.

  She glanced up at Eae and shook her head. Dixie knew this wouldn’t work. “Do you feel his hate? My God, I could feel it all the way in the other room.” Lilly moved off the man, but backed away slowly, keeping her shoe handy.

  “So you ran to the locker room to get your shoes?” Dixie teased, pulling her friend to her as a woman appeared in th
e room.

  “Michael, go home,” the woman snapped. “Leave your sons alone with their mate.”

  Her stepmother. It was time to leave this place. Dixie inched her way toward the door, where Trey had shown up with three men.

  “What the hell is going on?” He glanced at Lilly and the shoe, and gave her a confused look, but she just raised her head and glared at Trey.

  “That asshole was going to hurt Dixie, and her mates weren’t doing anything,” Lilly yelled.

  “You haven’t fed yet, have you?” Trey asked, coming into the room and stopping in front of Dixie.

  She shook her head. “Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.” Dixie wrapped her arms around Lilly as Leo pulled the blanket from the bed and draped it around Dixie, kissing her cheek.

  “We’ll take care of her. We’re sorry for this mess. It won’t happen again.” He glared across the room, where Eae now stood in front of their father.

  “What? You’re going to fuck that demon?” Their father was actually spitting he was so furious. Michael was so angry he didn’t see Eae’s fist until it made contact with his face.’ His father stumbled back. The shock on his face was comical.

  “If you ever talk about our mate that way again or even think about touching what is ours, I don’t care if you are our father, I’ll rip your heart out. Get out of here and don’t come back. It’s obvious you haven’t changed.”

  “My sons will not be mated to a demon!” Michael yelled and spun away from Eae. That is when everything went to hell.

  Dixie started, looking around at her new surroundings. They were now in what appeared to be an office, and there was no sign of Eae, Michael, or Eae and Leo’s mother. Leo held on to her as Trey held onto Lilly.

  “Sit, Leo,” Trey ordered. “How much trouble is this going to bring?” he asked Leo.

  “None,” Leo said. “Eae has taken care of my father. We won’t be hearing from him for another hundred years or so—that is, if he earns his wings back.” He the blanket tighter around Dixie.
