  Chapter One

One week before Christmas and Frosty still couldn’t forgive Santa and his family. Even after 200 years, Frosty still hated reindeer with a passion. Santa had been lucky he hadn’t taken up hunting, because Dancer and Donner both would have been stuffed and hanging on his wall alongside his ex, Blenda.

He turned and looked at his office. Frosty had turned ice cones into a million-dollar business, had money coming out of his ears, and woman flinging themselves at him every time he turned around. But still something was missing.

Frosty grabbed his jacket as he made his way to the door, ready to go home and watch some football, to take his mind off of the holiday season that was one week away. “Linda, I’m leaving for the night and I’m taking tomorrow off. Have to drive up the coast,” he said to his very pregnant assistant.

“Okay Mr. Frost. Just a reminder you will have a temporary worker here for the next two months. I start my leave tomorrow,” she said, coming around the desk and giving him a big hug.

“Make sure you eat. I’ve left the replacement notes on all of what needs to be done. From what I’ve heard, she is one of the best PAs around so we were lucky to have gotten her.” Linda stepped back and glanced up at him, looking at his dark hair and blue eyes that seemed to sparkle when he was amused, which was not very often this time of year.

“Don’t give me that look. I don’t need anything,” he grumbled, but leaned down and placed a friendly kiss on her cheek. “Remember to call me when you have that little guy. Tell Dan he better take good care of you or I’ll steal you away.”

She laughed and hit his arm. “You are silly. I know for a fact you would get sick of my nagging within a week.”

He leaned down, smiling. “That is what ball gags are for,” he said and watched her eyes get big. Just then, she thought she could see some of that sparkle in his blue eyes.

“Oh, you are a mean one. You wait, Frosty, your woman is going to come along and throw your world into a tailspin. I hope she knocks your socks off too.” Linda said.

“Bite your tongue,” he growled as she followed him into the elevator. “You need a lift home?”

“No, my man is waiting downstairs, but thank you,” she said as he helped her into the elevator. “Now, remember, I want you to be nice to this new PA coming tomorrow. This is your last chance. The temp agency said if you make this one cry, you are not getting another one, and I don’t blame them.”

“If I’m so bad how come you are still here?” Frosty asked, as the doors opened and he escorted his assistant outside to her waiting husband.

“Because, at the time, I was just as bad as you were.” Linda stopped and looked up at him. “You’ll have what I have some day. We were both hurt once, but that just means that person wasn’t right for us.” Linda pulled him down and kissed his cheek. “And you better be at the Christmas party.”

Frosty snorted and made his way towards his car in the underground parking lot. His assistant was a piece of work, but he’d be lost without her. These next few months were going to be hell without her in the office.

Coming over the hill, Frosty snarled and glared at the man leaning against a red 1965 Stingray Corvette. Santa wore black jeans and a white sweater. His beard was black, for now, and would be until Christmas Eve. And of course, Santa was fit as a body builder, again, for now. But what really pissed Frosty off was the man was blocking his damn car.

He hadn’t spoken to his friend since the blow up over Dancer and Donner. “What do you want Santa? You are blocking my car.” Frosty’s car was a black Mustang, simple but powerful.

His old friend sighed. “Beth is pregnant and she wants her brother to come and visit this Christmas. It was the one gift she wanted from both of us.”

Frosty unlocked his car, threw his briefcase in and looked at his friend. “Congrats, I know how long you two have wanted a child of your own. I’m happy for my little sister. I’ll swing by on Christmas Day, around six. But keep the brothers out of my sight. If by any chance the ex is still around, I’ll turn around and walk out,” he said, turning to get into his car.

“Frosty, she wants us to fix this and I’ll admit I should have kept my mouth shut. What Dancer and Donner did, well let’s say they are still paying the price and will be for a while.” Santa growled. “If only we knew what we know now about Blenda.”

He frowned and glanced over his shoulder at his old friend. “What’s this? You used to defend her. What happened?”

“As soon as that bitch got pregnant, she was gone, but not before serving Dancer and Donner with papers. Oh, she got the money she’d been after since she obviously didn’t get it from you.”

Frosty laughed and leaned against his car. “You know, I really wouldn’t have given a fuck about Blenda and the twins, but when you believed that greedy witch over our friendship…” He shook his head. “You married my baby sister, you were my best friend for over a thousand years, but after this one… Sorry Santa, it will take a long time, if ever. Please move your car.”

Frosty was done. He had promised to see his sister on Christmas, but that was all he was capable of right now.

“I was wrong Frost, and for that I am sorry. What she told us…” Santa shook his head and headed towards his car.

“Whatever she told you, you should have asked me. You should have believed in your friend who has stood beside you when you wanted to come to this planet. When all the others believed it was worthless, I stood there at your side, your friend.”

Now in a pissed off mood, Frosty started his car and waited for Santa to move his Corvette. The memory of their first day here on this planet had Frosty gripping the steering wheel hard as he tried to shake the memories.

  Chapter Two

Holly Berry smiled as she walked through the Christmas tree lot. At least she would be able to have a small Christmas this holiday season. She had gotten another temp job and this one would at least last for a few months. “Hopefully, longer,” she whispered.

At the age of 26, Holly was the only one in her family still struggling to make it on her own. But then again, Holly wasn’t about to take the money their fathe
r had set aside for each of his 11 children. No, Holly knew how he had gotten his money and she wanted no part of it.

Taking a new name, Holly had done her best to hide from her father and his goons, but he had still found her. She had made him promise that he wouldn’t interfere in her life, but he told her that he had to have someone watching her, this enemies wouldn’t care if she didn’t want anything to do with him.

Tears welled up in her eyes and she glanced down at the ground, taking a deep breath. Holly loved her family, even her father, but she knew she couldn’t live with herself taking his drug money. She ran her fingers over the scar on her arm that ran from her wrist to her shoulder.

From what her father had said when she was laid up in the hospital, it was the one mistake he ever regretted. He had failed to send guards with her to college, and she had drawn a lot of attention with her awards for academic achievement. Yes, Holly was like her mother, brilliant, but very naïve, wanting to believe the best in all people.

She had found out that the only thing her father was good at was his empire, as far as she could see it. Holly missed being Daddy’s little girl, but she’d never depend on him again, knowing his drugs killed hundreds of children every year.

Holly stopped in front of a small spruce tree and smiled. It was perfect for her condo, another thing she had agreed on with her father, since it had good security for her. She loved her place and wouldn’t trade it for the world. But every time she got money, she sent a check back to her father, making sure to pay him for the place. It was her one sin that Holly was bound to make sure she paid for it all, hence the small Christmas.

“But I’ll have enough to make sure Dylan has a great holiday,” Holly whispered, reaching up and taking the tag to the front where the salesman would place her tree on her car. No, she wouldn’t be having the big Christmas like she did at home, but it would hers, and it would be legal.

With the tree tied to the top of her car, Holly’s phone went off , playing Don’t Fear The Reaper. She sighed and answered the phone.

“Hello Daddy, what’s up?” she asked.

“You need to stop sending me these checks. I haven’t cashed one and I’m not going to. If it helps, the money came from my other business, Little Girl.” he said. “I wouldn’t lie about this.”

Did she believe him, yea, but…she sighed. “Okay Daddy,” she agreed, only because Holly knew he wouldn’t stop bugging her otherwise.

“Good, now I didn’t call for this. Your brother Chris and his wife are expecting a baby and they have asked for you to come to their home for Christmas Day this year. You know they don’t ask for much, and they really want you there.”

Holly frowned. “Dad, I have to work Christmas Eve. How am I supposed to get to Alaska by Christmas Day? Plus, I have a special little guy I’ll be spending my holidays with, hopefully.”

“You will bring him with you, of course,” her father said.

  “Dad, I don’t even know if I’m going to…”

“You will have your little boy for Christmas. There is no way anyone would deny my little girl that little angel.” His words sent a chill down her spine.

“Daddy, what did you do? Please tell me you didn’t step in. This is so important to me. Dylan is part of me already.” Fear settled in the bottom of her stomach. If her little boy was taken away from her because of her father…

“Relax Holly, I have done nothing. Your mother got the call from the judge and spoke with her. Yes, they were worried about you adopting him. I’m sorry, pumpkin, but even I can’t hide the fact I am your father,” he sighed.

Holly rested her head on the steering wheel. “I know, Daddy, I know. I was just hoping. I know I can give him the home he deserves.”

“You will, Holly, you will. I love you, Holly and I hope one day you can forgive me,” her father said, and hung up.

“Then stop what you’re doing, Daddy. Then stop what you’re doing,” she whispered, starting her car as tears rolled down her cheeks.

Christmas music came on and she smiled. If there was one thing Holly loved and would always cherish were the memories of Christmas time with her parents and everyone in her home town of Tequila, New Mexico. Her mother had made sure everyone in the city had a Christmas tree, presents and a meal that day. Each of her children helped her deliver turkeys and hams and presents to the families. Yes, Christmas was her holiday of hope and that would get her through this week too at her new job. She had heard of Mr. Frost and what a pain he was to work for, but Holly would not be intimidated by him or any man again.

  Chapter Three

He was running late and Frost hated that this was happening to him. It also pissed him off when others were late too. “Now, I can’t even yell at myself,” he grumbled and pulled into his parking lot, noticing two small Christmas trees by the elevators to his building.

“I did not authorize that,” he snarled and grabbed his briefcase ready to give whoever did that a piece of his mind.

But that wasn’t all that Frosty saw when he stepped into the elevator. Christmas music played on the speakers, Mistletoe hung in the middle of the damn elevator, and evergreen branches were twined around the walls.

The longer he stood in the elevator, the more pissed he got, but as soon as he got out on his floor he was stunned. Poinsettias were all over the place, platters of cookies, desserts and candies were on each desk. And there was laughter, at least until he stepped out onto the floor, drawing everyone’s attention, but one.

Her hair was a deep red, and from the woman’s bent over position she had the cutest full round ass he had seen in a while. Frost could even hear her off-key humming to the Christmas music as she was going through the filing cabinet.

“I’ll be right with you,” the woman said as she glanced over her shoulder at him. Big brown eyes met his and Frosty swore lightning had just come down and hit him in the stomach. All the air is lungs whooshed out of him.

“OH, you must be Mr. Frosty.” The woman’s words drew him out of the tunnel he had been in. “I’m Holly Berry, your personal assistant for the next few months.” She held out her small delicate hand and at once he captured it, wanting to kiss it, but knew it wasn’t the time to make his move.

“Wait, Holly Berry?” he asked, confused.

Her face turned a nice shade of pink, almost like that of Santa’s sleigh. Now, why in the world he thought of him was beyond him. “My mother’s idea, believe me I’ve heard them all, but still love the holiday. I hope you don’t mind the little touches. I would have done more, but I didn’t want to access your accounts without your permission, and my friend owed me so she sent over what she had to help out around here. I do have to say whoever was the personal assistant before dropped the ball on the decorations. But then again being pregnant can make anyone forget anything, at least that’s what I heard.” she said and looked out at the window, before turning and grabbing his messages.

“This pile was from yesterday and this one is from today. I put whoever has called more than once on top. Also, your 10:00 appointment is waiting for you in your outer office. If you need anything else, don’t hesitate to ask.” She spun around and went back to the filing cabinet before he could say a word.

He glanced over at the other secretary who was smiling from ear to ear. Frosty growled, but said nothing as he entered his outer office and stopped. One of his biggest clients was sitting there with a cup of something warm, smiling away at seeing him.

“I do have to say Frosty that your new assistant is amazing. Mind you, I love Linda, but Holly just puts a smile on anyone’s face once they meet her. Oh, and the Christmas decorations are fabulous. I was getting worried about you, especially since you handle my Christmas account,” Mr. Tork said, standing and holding out his hand to him.

“Actually, Linda found her. Are you enjoying your drink?” He asked, guiding him into his office.

“Holly makes a mean cup of hot chocolate I’m going to have to ask her for her recipe,” He said wh
ich just pissed Frost off for some reason, but he pasted a smile on his face and got down to work.

For an hour and a half, they worked through the campaign when someone knocked on the door. He frowned..No one dared interrupt his meetings. “Come in,” he yelled.

Holly peaked her head in and smiled. “If you are going to work through lunch, would you like me to order you some food?” she asked. “I know this great Greek diner that would deliver here.”

“I haven’t had Greek food in ages, Frosty?” Mr. Tork asked.

“Please, and Holly go ahead and go to lunch,” he told her.

“I brought my lunch, so I’ll be at my desk if you need me,” Holly closed the door, and at once Frosty wanted her back in the room, which was really crazy.

Mr. Tork glanced at him and smiled. “I do believe that little female has caught your eye. Good. It’s about time someone stirs that heart of yours.”

“Watch it, Mark. We might be working together for years but my personal life is not up for discussion,” Frosty growled.

Mark held up his hands and smiled. “I do think you protest too much, but I should warn you. Women like that don’t stay single that long.’

“And you know she is single, how?” Frosty couldn’t help but ask.

“Because you are not the only one interested in her.” Mark put his coffee down and started to go over the drawing in front of him.

Frost glanced at the door, then back at Mark. “Who?” It slipped out and Mark glanced up at him with a smile.

“Your ad guy Carl, of course. I mean he is handsome, from what I’ve heard from the women here, and he was already sniffing around Holly earlier.”

Frosty sorted through a bunch of papers, before he came to the one, he wanted. Picking up the phone, he dialed Carl’s extension. “Carl, could you come in here for a minute. I have something to discuss with you.”

  Mark sat back and smiled.

“Knock it off,” he grumbled. “You’re lucky I like you and consider you one of my close friends or you’d be sticking your thumb out at Pluto looking for a ride back to Earth,”.
