  Chapter One

  The Cometedge Pact

On the verge of extinction, one species of women will be imprinted on the souls of the warriors of the Cometedge. They are fierce fighters who protect the gates from other species traveling to other worlds to destroy them. This bonding of two races will allow both to survive and continue.

Leta Boyer stared at the trio seated at the table across the barroom. They’d been there for the past hour, drinking and just watching the room. Of course, they’d been watching her too. She could feel their gazes on her from anywhere in the place. No matter where she went, if Leta moved upstairs to take a few orders, one of them would seem to be up there, which could be a problem since her father would be back soon.

Working at the Cyborg Machines clubhouse hadn’t been one of her father’s dreams for his daughter, but right now Leta was between jobs and needed the cash before she could move to Detroit, where she hoped to land a job as a guard at the new compound forming there. Her friend in Detroit had told her about the place and that it was massive.

She ducked as a beer bottle went flying past her head. “Damn it, Tazz, knock it off before I kick your fucking ass!” she growled, going to get the broom to clean up the mess.

“Man, I’m sorry, Leta, you go. I’ll clean it up,” the big grizzly man said, coming behind her. “Your godmother just laid some news on me I wasn’t” expecting,” he growled and then glared at Bess, one of her favorite people, and the woman who’d raised her after her mother was murdered when she was a babe.

A big, beefy fist whizzed by her, connecting with Tazz’s jaw. “You almost hit Leta. What the hell is wrong with you?” her overprotective father growled, sending Tazz flying across the room, which not only shocked her, but everyone around them.

“Wow, how the hell did you do that?” Leta asked, turning to see her father standing next to a woman she had never seen before who was hanging on to her father, as if holding him back.

“You want to explain who that woman is and why she’s holding on to you so tight?” she asked, glaring up at her father, who grinned.

“Calm the temper, Red. I want you to meet my wife, Zena Sabor. Well, she used to be till last week,” her dad announced loudly, stopping all chatter around them. Even the juke box was turned off as everyone focused on her father.

Furious was one word to describe her reaction. Leta slammed down her tray on a nearby table, not carrying if the empty bottles went flying. “You went and married someone without even talking to me? How long have you known her? How fucking stupid can you be!” she yelled, not carrying about anyone around her.

Her father had never hurt her more than at this moment. “You know something, I’m out of here! Fuck you and her. It’s time to go for that job! Have a great life, Dad!,” she snarled and stomped away from him, but her father wasn’t done.

“Don’t fucking move!” he ordered. “You will come back here and apologize this minute.”

Leta slowly turned and faced her father. “No! In my whole life, with this club, and everything you have done, this has hurt the most. You promised me you wouldn’t bring anyone into our family until I got to meet her. But I guess now you’re breaking promises since you’re with her. Great choice.”

The bitch next to her father snarled and stepped forward, but her father pulled her back. “Enough!” he yelled. “In my office now!”

Oh, Leta knew not to push her father. Like her, he had a temper, and she knew she could only push him so far. She made her way to his office but knew as soon as this meeting was over, she was getting the hell out of there. Detroit was looking better and better... But she wasn’t expecting to see the three men who had been sitting in the corner step into the room with her father and new stepmother.

“Sit down, Leta, now!” her father ordered her to the chair in the far corner of the room, while he sat in his chair, pulling the bitch into his lap.

“Yep, stick your daughter in the corner. Sure, why not? I won’t be here long. Oh, and consider this my walking papers, because I’m out of here.” Leta sat.

“Are you done?” her father asked, and she shrugged.

“Would you mind if I began?” the bitch asked, patting her father’s chest.

“She won’t listen, but go for it,” Snow, her father, told his wife, which only served to dig the knife deeper into Leta’s chest as she looked down at her lap, trying to hide the tears that filled her eyes.

“Damn it, you two are tearing her apart!” the big man, who had been sitting in the corner watching her earlier, said, He came over and touched her shoulder. “Little Red, my name is Guryon, and I’ve known your father’s new wife for a very long time. Sure, they could have done this a better way, but Zena is a good woman. Please let them explain.”

Her gaze flew to her father, and he did nothing. Not only wasn’t he having a fit, he was smiling at the man.

In her 30 years of living, any man that had ever touched her had to deal with her father. Now, all of sudden, her father was allowing some man put his hand on her because of this bitch.

Slowly, Leta peeled the stranger’s fingers from her shoulder and stood, shaking her head. “No more,” she whispered and moved to the door, which flew open with Bess standing there with her knives out.

“Who do you want me to kill first?” she snarled, staring at Leta.

“No one, I’m leaving.” She looked behind Bess and sighed, seeing Tazz ready to kill along with half of her father’s group. “I suggest you speak with your men before you do anything. I would hate to see them leave you too, since half of them have been with you since I was’ born,” she told her father as she slipped out of the door, but not going even two feet when the big man had her in his arms.

“Do you really have a death wish?” she asked him, getting a little annoyed, nodding to the men who seemed to be suspended in midstride. She frowned and looked around. Everything had stopped, except for her and him. “What the hell is going on?” Leta glanced up at the man who held her.

“Your’ father had no choice in what he did, Red. The woman on his lap isn’t human, and neither are we. As you can see, I have gifts. I know you’re hurt, and I’m sorry. I’d do anything to take away that pain,” he growled and turned toward her father, who was now moving toward them with his new wife.

“Do you remember me telling you about your great-great grandmother and why you could communicate with others like Bess?” her father asked, and Leta nodded, not liking where this was going.

“Zena can shift into a saber-tooth tiger as can her sons, Colin and Drew. I’m Zena’s blood mate. Zena never believed she would find me.” He hugged the woman, rubbing his chin against the top of her head. “I’m sorry, Little Bit, I really didn’t mean to hurt you, but when we met, it happened so fast. Seems
some of that long-lost DNA popped up and, well, for the past week we’ve been busy.”

“Mating,” the man, Guryon, whispered into her ear.

“Why the fuck are you holding me and taunting me?” She glared at the man, and her father laughed.

“I told you she was going to be a handful. Are you sure you know what you’re getting into?” Snow asked Guryon.

“She is ours,” he growled, his eyes almost glowing.

“Son of a freaking bitch,” she whispered, as all of a sudden her stomach was in her throat as the other two men surrounded her.

“Ours,” one said, and all hell broke loose in the club as the men were released from whatever spell or magic this man had.

  ***

“Stop!” Guryon looked behind him to see Bess coming after him with a knife. “I know you’re important to Red here, but don’t push me. I’m not hurting her. I would never do that. She’s ours to protect and take care of,” he stated loud enough to make sure everyone heard him.

“Bess, stand down,” the little woman in his arms said. “Please put me down before one of them doesn’t listen. I won’t have anyone hurt because of me.” She squirmed in his arms and tried to get released.

“Hold still before you hurt yourself. They won’t hurt us; they can’t.” He directed the other two men with him them toward the front of the club. “Drew, get rid of those that are not part of this club and then seal the doors. If this group is going to be brought into the circle, I want control of it. We don’t need crazy humans running around. I’ll erase the memories of all those who can’t handle the truth as soon as I get Leta settled.”

He pulled a chair out and sat down. “Are you going to use that knife?” he asked Leta.

“I should, since it’s obvious you don’t listen.” She sat up and looked around. “Are you controlling my father?”

“No, don’t worry, Little Red, he got in his punch when we first met,” he snorted, keeping an eye on those around them.

“And you didn’t kill him? Sorry, but I don’t believe that. My gut tells me that if anyone got in your way they wouldn’t last two seconds.”

“That is true, but I also knew I couldn’t destroy my woman’s father and still plan on courting her. I do have some brains.” He smiled, and she rolled her eyes but kept an eye on things around her, knowing anything could set the group off.

“Sorry, but I’m not planning on sticking around. As soon as this show is done, I’m out of here,” she told him. But something in front of her stopped her in her tracks. “What the hell?”

Guryon glanced up to see her father shifting right there in front of everyone. “Damn it, Colin, what the hell is he doing?” He lifted her up and placed her in his seat.

“Stay put!” he snapped and headed toward the large white cat that had just let out a roar that shook the windows.

Guryon waved his hand, and all weapons disappeared from Snow’s men’s hands as they were aiming at their boss, the cat. For the next hour, Snow, Colin, Drew and he worked to explain to Snow’s men what was going on. About one quarter of the men had to have their memories tonight’s events erased. They were sent home and wouldn’t be traveling with Colin’s men to their next stopping point.

“Where is my daughter?” Snow finally asked, moving to Guryon’s side and scanning around.

He turned and sure enough the seat he had placed her in was empty. “Shit! Colin, Drew let’s go. We have a woman to hunt down.”

“Oh no you don’t’!” Bess stated, stepping in front of him. “I understand all of her father’s stupid acts, but what the hell do you think you’re going to do to my little girl, and let me make it clear to you that she is mine.” The woman raised her head, daring Snow or anyone else to say a word.

“Bess, get out of the way, these guys are her mates. They are different from my woman. They are actual ancient warriors. They track beings that don’t belong on Earth and send them back to where they came from.”

“What? You mean…?”“ She held up her hand and took a deep breath. ““Tazz, bring her in here,” she yelled out the door at her husband before turning to Guryon. “I take it you can shift too?”

“I can change into any form I choose. We are closest to what you would say your vampires are.” Guryon smiled, showing his teeth this time.

“I’m going to have fucking nightmares!” Bess shook her head. “Snow, why are they here and why show us all of this now?” She sat down in her chair hard as her husband carried in the furious Leta.

“We need to move. There is a huge threat coming into our lives. The warriors here are not going to be able to take care of it by themselves. We’re all going to need to work together. My daughter is right about one thing. We all need to pack and head toward Detroit.”

“Do these other, warriors, people know we’re coming?” Tazz asked, placing Leta in front of him. He shook his head answering Tazz before wrapping his arm around Leta and pulling her against his body.

Snow came over and looked down at his daughter. “Go with them and allow them to help you pack. Make sure to pack everything, Leta. We’re talking code black here.” He sighed and cupped his daughter’s cheek. “I’m sorry I screwed this up, Little Bit. I promise we’ll talk soon, but we need to get moving now. We roll in 12 hours, people! Make sure you are packed to stay. Tazz, I want you to pick three people to stay, close up the pack house and bring up the rear with the trailers. Everyone, pack four bags; one of things you want to take for a long stay, one for your weapons, two for your clothes. We don’t know how long we’ll be gone.”

“What about our pets and family here?” Bess asked.

“Lockdown. Guryon, I take it there are homes for us to use?” Snow asked, turning to look at him.

“As far as I know. I haven’t been to this new compound. All I know is that we need to be there, that the first attack is going to be in Detroit. With the law undermanned, this new threat believes they can take over the city. The other threat will be Chicago, where I have sent the other half of my men.” He looked around at the bikers in the room. There were more than 60, some of the toughest men around, for humans.

“I’m not going to lie to you. This threat is big. They are like a lizard that can change color. They’re taking a certain type of women with a certain bloodline and breeding them, which ends up killing the woman.”

“How do you know all of this? I mean how can we trust you? You could be working with these things,” one man yelled out.

“Good question. One, I can change into other forms, but this is the only human form I have. These things can look like anyone. Two, we caught three of them three months ago. It took us that long to figure out what the hell was going on, but recently there was a change in the ones we caught. Seems they can’t be away from something called Disha. They need this to survive. Without it, they die. The three we had died three weeks ago.”

“How did you get your answers? I take it they spoke a different language?” the woman next to him asked.

“I drew their Blood.” he answered and she stepped back.

  “You drained them?”

He laughed. “No, all I needed was a sample. Plus, I don’t drain anything; I have no need to. Twelve hours, Snow. Colin, Drew, are you staying with your mom?”

“Mom? They’re my stepbrother’s?” Leta squeaked and glanced at Zena before turning her attention to Drew and Colin, her other two mates.

Drew came over and stared down at her. “You are our woman that is all that matters. Eventually you’ll get to know Mom. She really is a nice person, Leta.”

“And I’m the freaking Easter Bunny. Dad, I’ll meet you at home. You want me to pack the office?” she asked, spinning around.

“We’ll be right behind you,” Snow said as he followed Leta out the door and to the left.

“Where are you going?” Guryon asked her.

“You know where I’m going since it is obvious you’ve been watching me for the last week.” She swung her leg over a 1975 FHL
Harley Davidson. He knew it was her baby, but every time she rode the thing, the thought of someone hitting her drove him crazy.

“I don’t suppose you’d leave the bike here?” he asked and then laughed at the expression she gave him.

“And you’d leave your ride?” she asked.

“Fine, we’ll follow,” he said and headed over to his own newer Harley. Already six of his men were waiting on the street for them, while Colin and Drew pulled up and waited for Leta to pull out.

She shook her head and drove out of the parking lot, heading toward her home. Little did she know a truck and some of his men were already there to take her belongings to Detroit with them. They wouldn’t be coming back, unless it was to visit her family. Guryon just hoped the news that Guryon was still alive wouldn’t shock his brother too much. Let alone the fact Colin and Drew’s sister was about to see her long-lost brothers.

  Chapter Two

Leta pulled into the driveway and couldn’t believe what was there; a truck with four men waiting. She pulled her baby up to the door and cut the engine as she heard the other bikes roar in behind her. But Leta just sat there staring at her childhood home. For some reason, she didn’t think she’d be back, and a sadness settled over her.

Everything was changing around her, and Leta really didn’t know if she liked the changes. Yes, she had planned on moving, but with this new threat, would any of their lives ever be normal again? She snorted. What was normal now?

“Are you okay?” the one called Drew asked as he came up beside her so quietly she hadn’t heard him, followed by his brother Colin.

“Things aren’t going to be the same anymore, are they? Life as we know it here is going to change,” she said.

“Life has changed many times over the last few centuries, but humans have survived and they will this time, but the difference is they’ have others helping them now. Come, let’s get you packed up. We’ll eat some dinner and talk before we leave.” He held out his hand, but Leta was still trying to comprehend his statement.
