“I won’t, my love, I won’t.” Elisa heard.
“Yea, my brother can be a pain, but he always apologizes when he screws up,” Claire said. “Now, come on, let’s eat, because from what I heard we all have to be outside in 30 minutes. Something to do with a surprise for Elisa.”
*****
Elisa stared at the creatures in front of her, crying like a fool. Her men were truly her knights. She now had her horses, or what sort of looked like them, but they were taller and thicker around.
One, a white, black, and blue-colored horse stepped forward and seemed to bow before her.
Lucas laughed and shook his head. “This one calls himself, Zon and he has volunteered to escort you to your men for the wedding. It seems your man, Tarek, has made friends with these animals and they are offering you all their services today.”
She sat down right there on the ground and stared. How she had come full circle, Elisa didn’t know. Her mom sat down next to her, hugging her. “You remember that when we first left dad, we had nothing to eat but bread, bologna, and water?” she asked and her mom nodded.
“I think that that night was the one of the best I had, because we were free. But it was the first night I dreamed of this wedding. We’re safe momma,” she whispered to her mom and her mother hugged her tight.
“That we are, my little girl. That we are. We both finally got the men we were born to be with. I can relax because I know your three men will keep you safe, all of you.” She looked back at Karen, Shelly and Turtle.
“Thanks mom,” Elisa said hugging her. “Now let’s see how we are going to do this.” Elisa stood up with her mom and moved towards the horse. “How am…” she stopped her next sentence when a black, saddle-like thing appeared on the animal, which grumbled, but did nothing.
“Ladies, find your ride and introduce yourselves,” Lucas said and turned to Beth. “You, I’m afraid, will not be ridding one.”
“I know that,” Beth rolled her eyes. “I’ll be down there already. So how many are you allowing to come today?” Beth asked.
Lucas sighed. “Not many, I’ve invited my parents though, I want them here to talk to and a few others of influence, but it is mostly for them.” Lucas looked up at Elisa as she got onto the animal.
“Your men know quite a few powerful people, you’ll be pleasantly surprised later,” Lucas teased her.
Beth slapped his arm. “You just had to say that. You know that would make anyone nervous.” She glared at him and he raised his eyebrow at her.
“Did you just smack me, Little Witch? What were you told about your little smacks?” His voice took on that tone that had all of them moaning.
“I don’t know what it is with the men around here, but I tell you what they need to stop with the voice while others are around,” Turtle glared at Lucas and Elisa, and couldn’t help but bust out laughing as did Beth
“I personally believe they take a class on how to do it, and just ignore him. He’s on his way.” Beth waved her hands and he just crossed his arms staring at her.
“Please,” she asked and he smiled.
“Better. Now call me when you are ready to go down.” Lucas disappeared, leaving them.
Elisa jumped down from the animal and patted his neck. “I’ll see you in a few hours, and thank you,” she whispered to the animal before joining the other women going into the house.
It was time to get ready. To officially start her new life.
Chapter Nineteen
Lancelot paced back and forth looking up at the hundred people sitting in chairs. He still couldn’t believe half the people that had showed up to honor him.
But what really had him smiling was the man standing off to the side getting ready to sing for his woman. He had been one of the best opera singers in the world until he had retired. There was only so long a vampire could be a celebrity in the human world. Lancelot knew Elisa would enjoy him.
When he had found out about Lancelot’s wedding, the man had requested an appearance with Lucas himself asking for permission to come. He was humbled by the request knowing this would be the first time in over 50 years that the man had sung.
“Settle down, everything will go fine,” Jason said next to him adjusting his ruffled cravats. “But I tell you what she owes us big time for wearing this stuff again. God, I hated this stuff.”
He laughed and glanced at Tarek, who nodded. “I have to agree, these things are horrible. How did you survive in this crap?” Tarek asked.
“We survived,” he mumbled as the music started and Beth appeared at the end of the clearing with Lucas walking her down the flower aisle.
It was starting and if Beth’s dress was any indication of what his woman was wearing, they all were going to be swearing up a storm.
The first Omar-horse appeared at the edge of the forest as Lancelot stepped up to his spot. “We’re in trouble,” Lancelot mumbled seeing Shelly coming to the end of the Forest and being lifted off the horse by Dred.
Her dress was a Halloween orange color, but its design was Victorian in design, perfectly matching the dresses of the time period Elisa had wanted. His gaze never left the entrance, waiting for her.
His stomach was in a knot and for the first time in centuries Lancelot was nervous. Not even before a duel had he ever been this nervous.
Next to him, it seemed his brother and Tarek were both feeling the same thing as he was.
“I’m spanking her butt for putting me through this,” Jason grumbled.
Her laughter floated to them easing the tension in his stomach. “I was the one who wanted to elope remember? Are you going to spank my mother? I want to watch that.” She teased them just as her horse broke through the forest.
His father and her mother waited for her there where both of them would walk her down the aisle together. Before his father reached to help his woman down, he glanced at Jason as if daring him to spank his wife.
Jason busted out laughing and shaking his head, but that hadn’t even fazed Elisa. Her gaze was on the man next to the altar singing just for her.
“Don’t you dare cry.” He heard her say to herself as his father helped her down off the animal. Her mother running behind her adjusted her six foot train.
She dress she was wearing had a black corset, over an orange skirt to match her bridesmaid’s’ dresses. She was absolutely stunning.
Her breasts, round and full, flowed out over the top of the corset. Her hair was done in ringlets with wild flowers woven through them. Except for a touch of lipstick, she wore no other make-up.
On one side, his father took her arm, while her mother took the other, but her gaze met his and never left it. The wedding march wasn’t playing, but a special duet was sung to his woman, telling her how much she meant to them.
But what did surprise all of them was the white rose petals falling from the sky. She looked at him and he shook his head.
To the right, Lucas shook his head and Lancelot knew it was Konrad’s doing. He glanced to Karen who wore a big smile on her face. She nodded to him, acknowledging what was happening.
It would seem Konrad was also thanking Elisa for remembering and trying to keep Karen safe.
*****
Elisa stopped for a second time looking at the white rose petals. “Looks like you have a very powerful friend. I don’t know if that is a good thing or bad, we’ll have to wait and see,” her stepfather said, kissing the side of his cheek. “Just remember to trust your men; they will always be there beside you.” He patted her hand before turning to Lancelot as they stepped up the platform.
“We are trusting you with one of the most precious things in our lives. Take care of this fine gem, my sons,” he said to all three of them.
“We learned from the best, Sir,” Lancelot said as all three of them bowed to him and her mother.
For the next 30 minutes the words were a blur as they exchanged vows. But what was the funniest thing to her was the preacher that performed the wedding.
She giggled, almost snorting her champagne up her nose.
“Are you still laughing about the minister?” Jason said, rubbing her back.
“Well you have to admit it’s not in any of the books. I mean come on, a religious vampire?” Lancelot snorted.
“Honey, most of us were humans or something before. Well not Lucas and a few others, but still, we do believe in other things. Like I know for a fact the fates are alive and well,” he said with a twinkle in his eye.
She lowered her glass and glared at him. “Please don’t tell me they’re here?”
“Actually, they’re coming this way,” Lancelot said and she almost dropped her drink, and would have, if Jason hadn’t grabbed it.
Two of the most beautiful women she had ever seen came up to them, kissing Lancelot and Jason on the cheeks, and nodding to Tarek before turning their attention to her.
“Thank you, and you are quite stunning yourself. Your mother and you have done well here for such short notice. I do say I was worried when my sister, the one that’s not here, told us that Lancelot now had a blood mate. You have taken one of the most wanted bachelors out of circulation, my dear, but not to worry because you two have your own secret admirers from afar.” They said leaning over, each one taking and cheek kissing her.
“You are a perfect match for these men and will have many fine children. I will tell you this, your life is not always be easy and for that I am sorry.” Their words sent a chill down her spine as they disappeared.
“Fuck!” Lancelot yelled and pulled her into his arms. “Easy, Little Geek, we don’t know when or how. Don’t borrow trouble.” The three of them touched and whispered to her trying to sooth her.
“I always did hate their drama,” Lucas said, coming up to them with Edward and Beth. “You should have heard what she said to us.”
Beth shivered. “Those three sisters give Halloween the scare of a lifetime to anyone they speak with.”
Elisa glanced over at Karen who was talking with Claire, Shelly and Turtle. As if sensing her stare she looked up and winked at her.
“I will protect her with my life, little sister.” A voice said in her head and she knew who it was.
“But how can you protect her if everyone watches for you? She needs love more than I ever did,” Elisa asked, but got no answer.
Lucas reached over and squeezed her hand. “If my brother has called you his little sister, you are now family. I have a feeling your friend is what my Beth is to me. His world. His soul. If that brings me my brother back to me then I thank you.”
A tall woman and a man who looked like Lucas stepped forward. “We too thank you. It has given us hope for the first time in a long while.” She turned to Lucas. “If it is okay, we would like to stay here with you son,” his mom glanced over at Karen. “I hope I will have three daughters now. Welcome to the family Elisa.”
Elisa looked up as the singer started to sing her favorite song. “Dance with me, Little Geek,” Jason asked, holding out his hand.
She placed her hand into his as he swung her into his arms, dancing with her. “This song and holiday are perfect, because you are our magic, Elisa. And what is Halloween, but magic and fun. See them?” Jason nodded to the children who ran around with their costumes on, playing tag, but stopped as all around them jack-o-lanterns lit up with different faces staring at them. The children jumped and laughed running to see all the pumpkins.
“Another gift from my new brother, I take it?” Jason said and she nodded.
“I have a feeling he too didn’t like the fate’s speaking. It seems our lives are going to be twined together. I’m sorry…” Jason kissed her stopping her.
“No, you just might have found a way to end this war. You have given us all hope. Look at your men.” Jason nodded to Lancelot and Tarek where both of them stood talking with Lucas and Edward, but their gaze was on them.
“You are finally ours, my wife, and we are not going to let you go, ever. No matter how scary things get.” He added along with a Boo.
She laughed, hugging him tight, thanking the fates for giving her the knights of her dreams.
“You’re welcome, my dear,” they answered, sending a shiver up her spine. It was the happiest day of her life and the scariest.
“As it should be on such a holiday.” A voice she hadn’t heard since a child said, but he was dead, wasn’t he?
